Psalms

Chapter 4

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

1For the choir director: with stringed instruments. A Psalm by David. Answer me when I call, God, my defender. Relieve my distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

2You people, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love what is worthless and chase after lies? Selah.

3Understand that Yahweh has set apart those who are devoted to him; Yahweh will hear when I call to him.

4Tremble with awe and do not sin. Think about this in your bed and be still. Selah.

5Offer the right sacrifices and trust in Yahweh.

6Many people ask, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Yahweh, let your face shine on us.

7You have given me more joy than they have when their grain and new wine are plentiful.

8I will lie down and sleep in peace, because you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety.
