Chapter 33

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

Rejoice in Yahweh, you righteous ones! Praise is fitting for those who are honest.

Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre. Sing praises to him with a ten-stringed harp.

Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with joyful shouts!

For Yahweh’s word is right. Everything he does is done faithfully.

He loves what is right and fair. The earth is full of Yahweh’s unfailing love.

By Yahweh’s word, the heavens were made; all their stars by the breath of his mouth.

He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap. He stores the deep waters in vaults.

Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all the people of the world stand in awe of him.

For he spoke, and it happened. He commanded, and it stood firm.

Yahweh frustrates the plans of the nations. He makes the thoughts of the peoples useless.

Yahweh’s plans stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he chose for his own possession.

Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees all people.

From his dwelling place, he watches everyone on Earth.

He shaped every one of their hearts and knows everything they do.

A king is not saved by having a large army; a strong soldier is not rescued by his great power.

A horse is useless for protection; it cannot save anyone by its great strength.

But Yahweh watches over those who respect him, those who hope in his faithful love.

He saves them from death and keeps them alive during a famine.

Our souls have waited for Yahweh; he is our helper and our protector.

Our hearts rejoice in him because we trust in his holy name.

Let your faithful love be with us, Yahweh, just as we have hoped in you.
