Psalms

Chapter 32

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

1By David. A contemplative psalm. Blessed is the person whose disloyalty is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2Blessed is the person to whom Yahweh does not count sin, and in whose spirit there is no dishonesty.

3When I kept silent, my bones wasted away because of my groaning all day long.

4Day and night your hand felt heavy on me; my strength dried up as in the summer heat.

5I admitted my sin to you. I didn’t hide my guilt. I said, “I will confess my wrongdoing to Yahweh,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

6Therefore, let all who are godly pray to you while you can still be found. Surely when great floods come, they will not reach them.

7You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.

8I will guide you and teach you the way you should go. I will advise you and watch over you.

9Don’t be like a horse or a mule, which don’t understand and must be controlled with a bit and bridle, or they won’t come near you.

10Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love will surround those who trust in Yahweh.

11Be glad in Yahweh, and rejoice, you righteous people! Shout for joy, all you who are honest!
