Chapter 27

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

By David. Yahweh is my light and my salvation; who should I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life; of whom should I be afraid?

When evil people attacked me to devour me, my enemies and my foes, they tripped and fell.

Even if an army camps against me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if war breaks out against me, I will still be confident.

I have asked one thing from Yahweh, and I will seek it: to live in Yahweh's house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to spend time in his temple.

Because on the day of trouble, he will hide me in his shelter. He will conceal me in the secret place of his tent. He will lift me up on a rock.

Now I will be victorious over my enemies around me; I will offer joyful sacrifices in his tent. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh.

Hear me, Yahweh, when I call out. Be merciful to me and answer me.

When you said, “Seek my face,” my heart said to you, “I will seek your face, Yahweh.”

Don’t hide your face from me. Don’t push your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Don’t abandon me or leave me, God of my salvation.

Even if my father and mother abandon me, Yahweh will take care of me.

Teach me your ways, Yahweh. Lead me on a straight path because of my enemies.

Don’t give me over to what my enemies want, for false witnesses have risen against me, who breathe out cruelty.

I am still confident that I will see Yahweh's goodness in the land of the living.

Wait for Yahweh. Be strong and courageous. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
