A reflective poem by David, written when he was in the cave. A Prayer. I call out to Yahweh with my voice. With my voice, I ask Yahweh for mercy.
I pour out my complaints to him. I tell him all my troubles.
When I was overwhelmed with worry, you knew where I was going. They have hidden a trap for me on the path I walk.
Look to my right and see; no one cares about me. There's nowhere for me to hide. No one cares about my life.
I cried out to you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my shelter, my share in the land of the living.”
Listen to my cry, for I am in great need. Rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are stronger than I am.
Set me free from this prison, so I can thank your name. Good people will gather around me, because you will be good to me.
