Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
"Tell the people of Israel: 'If someone unintentionally sins by doing something Yahweh has commanded not to be done,
if the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he must offer a young bull without defects to Yahweh as a sin offering for the sin he committed.
He is to bring the bull to the entrance of the Meeting Tent before Yahweh, lay his hand on the bull's head, and kill the bull there before Yahweh.
The anointed priest must take some of the bull's blood and bring it into the Meeting Tent.
The priest will dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before Yahweh, in front of the curtain of the sanctuary.
The priest will put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before Yahweh, which is in the Meeting Tent. He will pour out all the rest of the bull's blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.
He must remove all the fat from the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the internal organs, and all the fat attached to the internal organs,
both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the fatty lobe of the liver, which he must remove along with the kidneys.
just as these are removed from the bull of the fellowship offering sacrifice. The priest will burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
But the bull's hide, all its meat (including its head and legs), its internal organs, and its dung—
he must carry the entire bull outside the camp to a clean place where the ashes are poured out, and burn it there on wood with fire. It must be burned where the ashes are poured out."
"'If the entire community of Israel sins unintentionally, and the assembly is not aware of it, they will be guilty of doing something Yahweh has commanded not to be done.
When the sin they committed becomes known, the assembly must offer a young bull as a sin offering and bring it in front of the Meeting Tent.
The elders of the community will lay their hands on the bull's head before Yahweh, and the bull will be killed there before Yahweh.
The anointed priest must bring some of the bull’s blood to the Tent of Meeting.
Then the priest must dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times in front of Yahweh, in front of the curtain.
He must put some of the blood on the horns of the altar located in the Tent of Meeting, which is in front of Yahweh. The rest of the blood he must pour out at the base of the altar for burnt offerings, which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
He must remove all its fat and burn it on the altar.
He must do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. The priest will perform the ritual to make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.
He must carry the bull outside the camp and burn it, just as he burned the first bull. This is the sin offering for the community.
“When a leader sins by unintentionally doing something forbidden by Yahweh his God, and is therefore guilty—
if his sin is made known to him, he must bring a male goat with no defects as his offering.
He must place his hand on the goat’s head and kill it in the same place where burnt offerings are killed before Yahweh. It is a sin offering.
The priest must take some of the sin offering’s blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar for burnt offerings. He must pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar for burnt offerings.
He must burn all its fat on the altar, just like the fat from a peace offering. The priest will perform the ritual to make atonement for him concerning his sin, and he will be forgiven.
“If any ordinary person sins unintentionally by doing something forbidden by Yahweh, and is therefore guilty—
if his sin is made known to him, he must bring a female goat with no defects as his offering for the sin he committed.
He must place his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill the sin offering in the place where burnt offerings are killed.
The priest must take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar for burnt offerings. He must pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
He must remove all its fat, just as fat is removed from a peace offering sacrifice. The priest must burn it on the altar as a pleasing aroma to Yahweh. The priest will perform the ritual to make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
“If he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he must bring a female lamb with no defects.
He must place his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill it as a sin offering in the same place where burnt offerings are killed.
The priest must take some of the sin offering’s blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar for burnt offerings. He must pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
He must remove all its fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the peace offering sacrifice. The priest must burn them on the altar, on top of the offerings made to Yahweh by fire. The priest will perform the ritual to make atonement for him concerning the sin he committed, and he will be forgiven.
