Leviticus

Chapter 2

How to live close to a holy God.

When someone brings a grain offering to Yahweh, his offering must be fine flour. He must pour olive oil on it and put frankincense on it.

He must bring it to Aaron's sons, the priests. He will take a handful of its fine flour and its olive oil, along with all its frankincense. The priest will burn a portion of it as a memorial on the altar. It is an offering made by fire, a pleasing smell to Yahweh.

What is left of the grain offering will belong to Aaron and his sons. It is a very holy part of the offerings made to Yahweh by fire.

When you offer a grain offering baked in an oven, it must be unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with olive oil, or unleavened crackers brushed with olive oil.

If your offering is a grain offering cooked on a griddle, it must be made of unleavened fine flour, mixed with olive oil.

You must cut it into pieces and pour olive oil on it. It is a grain offering.

If your offering is a grain offering cooked in a pan, it must be made of fine flour with olive oil.

You must bring the grain offering made of these things to Yahweh. It will be presented to the priest, and he will bring it to the altar.

The priest must take a portion of the grain offering as a memorial and burn it on the altar. This is an offering made by fire, a pleasing smell to Yahweh.

What is left of the grain offering will belong to Aaron and his sons. It is a most holy part of Yahweh's offerings made by fire.

You must not use yeast in any grain offering you present to Yahweh. You must not burn any yeast or honey as an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

You may offer them to Yahweh as an offering of first fruits, but they will not be accepted as a pleasing smell on the altar.

You must put salt on every grain offering. Do not leave out the salt that represents your God's covenant from your grain offering. You must offer salt with all your offerings.

If you offer a grain offering of first fruits to Yahweh, you must offer crushed grain from fresh heads of grain, roasted by fire.

You must put oil on it and place frankincense on it; it is a grain offering.

The priest will burn a portion of the crushed grain and a portion of the oil, with all the frankincense, as its memorial. It is an offering made by fire to Yahweh.
