Yahweh called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying,
“Tell the people of Israel: ‘When any of you brings an offering to Yahweh, you must bring it from your livestock, from the cattle or from the flock.
“‘If your offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you must offer a male animal with no defects. You must bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting so that it will be accepted before Yahweh.
You must lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you.
You must slaughter the bull before Yahweh. Aaron’s sons, the priests, must present the blood and sprinkle it all around on the altar that is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
The person bringing the offering must skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.
Aaron's sons, who are priests, will put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.
Then Aaron's sons, the priests, will arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the wood that is on the fire on the altar.
But the person must wash the internal organs and the legs with water. The priest will burn all of it on the altar. This is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing smell to Yahweh.
If his burnt offering is from the flock, either sheep or goats, he must offer a male animal that has no defects.
He must kill it on the north side of the altar in front of Yahweh. Aaron's sons, the priests, will sprinkle its blood around on the altar.
He must cut it into pieces, including its head and its fat. The priest will arrange them on the wood that is on the fire on the altar,
but he must wash the internal organs and the legs with water. The priest will offer the whole animal and burn it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing smell to Yahweh.
If his burnt offering to Yahweh is birds, then he must offer turtledoves or young pigeons.
The priest will bring it to the altar, twist off its head, and burn it on the altar; its blood will be drained out on the side of the altar.
He will remove its crop with its filth and throw it beside the altar on the east side, in the place where the ashes are.
He will tear it by its wings but not separate it completely. The priest will burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing smell to Yahweh.
