Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“Speak to the whole community of Israel and tell them: ‘You must be holy, because I, Yahweh your God, am holy.’
“Each one of you must respect his mother and his father. You must keep my Sabbaths. I am Yahweh your God.
“Do not turn to idols or make gods of molten metal for yourselves. I am Yahweh your God.”
“When you offer a fellowship offering to Yahweh, offer it in a way that makes you acceptable.
You must eat it on the same day you offer it and on the next day. If anything remains until the third day, you must burn it with fire.
If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is disgusting and will not be accepted.
Anyone who eats it will be guilty of sin because they have desecrated Yahweh’s holy offering, and that person will be cut off from their people.”
“‘When you harvest your land, you must not completely clear the edges of your field, and you must not gather the remnants of your harvest.
You must not pick over your vineyard a second time, or gather the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and for foreigners. I am Yahweh your God.
“‘You must not steal. “‘You must not lie. “‘You must not deceive one another.
“‘You must not falsely swear by my name and so dishonor the name of your God. I am Yahweh.
“‘You must not oppress your neighbor or rob him. “‘You must not hold back a hired worker's wages overnight; pay him before morning.
“‘You must not curse a deaf person or put something in front of a blind person that will make them trip; instead, you must respect your God. I am Yahweh.
“‘When you judge, you must not be unfair. You must not favor the poor or show deference to the powerful; instead, you must judge your neighbor fairly.
“‘You must not spread rumors among your people. “‘You must not do anything that would put your neighbor's life in danger. I am Yahweh.
“‘You must not secretly hate your relative. You must correct your neighbor directly, so you don't share in their sin.
“‘You must not seek revenge or hold a grudge against anyone among your people; instead, you must love your neighbor as yourself. I am Yahweh.
“‘You must keep my laws. “‘You must not breed two different kinds of animals together. “‘You must not plant your field with two different kinds of seeds. “‘You must not wear clothes made of two different kinds of material.
“‘If a man has sexual relations with a female slave who is promised to another man, but has not yet been bought back or given her freedom, they will be punished. They will not be put to death, because she was not free.
He must bring his guilt offering to Yahweh, to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting—a ram for a guilt offering.
The priest will use the ram of the guilt offering to make a sacrifice of atonement for the man before Yahweh for the sin he committed; then the sin he committed will be forgiven him.
“‘When you enter the land and plant all kinds of fruit trees, you must consider their fruit forbidden. For three years, it will be forbidden to you; you must not eat it.
But in the fourth year, all its fruit will be sacred, a praise offering to Yahweh.
In the fifth year, you may eat its fruit, so that it will produce even more for you. I am Yahweh your God.
“‘You must not eat any meat that still has blood in it. You must not practice divination or witchcraft.
“‘You must not cut the hair on the sides of your head or trim the edges of your beard.
“‘You must not cut your body for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am Yahweh.
Do not dishonor your daughter by making her a prostitute. If you do, the land will become full of prostitution and wickedness.
You must observe my Sabbaths and respect my holy place. I am Yahweh.
Do not go to mediums or wizards for advice. Do not seek them out, or you will become ritually unclean because of them. I am Yahweh your God.
Stand up in the presence of older people with gray hair and show respect for the elderly. You must fear your God. I am Yahweh.
If a foreigner lives in your land, do not mistreat him.
You must treat the foreigner living among you as if he were one of your own people. You must love him as you love yourself, because you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.
Do not cheat in court or by using incorrect measurements for length, weight, or quantity.
You must use honest scales, honest weights, an honest dry measure (ephah), and an honest liquid measure (hin). I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
You must obey and carry out all my laws and rules. I am Yahweh.'
