1Yahweh spoke to Moses,
2"Speak to the people of Israel and tell them: 'I am Yahweh your God.'
3You must not do what they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do what they do in Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their customs.
4You must obey my laws and keep my rules; live by them. I am Yahweh your God.
5Therefore, you must keep my rules and laws. Anyone who obeys them will live by them. I am Yahweh.
6None of you should have sexual relations with a close relative. I am Yahweh.
7You must not have sexual relations with your father or your mother. She is your mother; you must not have sexual relations with her.
8You must not have sexual relations with your father's wife; it is the same as having sexual relations with your father.
9You must not have sexual relations with your sister, whether she is your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born at home or elsewhere.
10You must not have sexual relations with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, because they are your direct descendants.
11You must not have sexual relations with your father's wife's daughter, who was fathered by your father; she is your sister.
12You must not have sexual relations with your father's sister; she is your father's close relative.
13You must not have sexual relations with your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative.
14You must not have sexual relations with your father's brother by having sex with his wife. She is your aunt.
15You must not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law; she is your son's wife, so you must not have sexual relations with her.
16You must not have sexual relations with your brother's wife; it is the same as having sexual relations with your brother.
17You must not marry a woman and her daughter. You must not marry her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter to have sexual relations with them; they are close relatives, and that is wickedness.
18You must not marry a woman and her sister, making them rivals, and have sexual relations with the sister while the first sister is still alive.
19“You must not approach a woman to have sex with her when she is unclean due to her monthly period.”
20“You must not have sexual intercourse with your neighbor’s wife and make yourself unclean with her.”
21“You must not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech. You must not dishonor the name of your God. I am Yahweh.”
22“You must not have sexual intercourse with a man as you would with a woman. That is disgusting.”
23“You must not have sexual intercourse with any animal and make yourself unclean with it. No woman may offer herself to an animal to have sex with it; that is a perversion.”
24“Do not make yourselves unclean by doing any of these things, for the nations I am driving out before you became unclean by doing all of them.”
25The land became unclean. That is why I punished its sin, and the land forced out its inhabitants.
26So you must obey my laws and rules, and not do any of these detestable things—neither those born in the land nor the foreigners living among you.
27(For the men of the land who lived there before you did all these detestable things, and the land became unclean).
28Otherwise, if you make the land unclean, it will force you out as it forced out the nation that was there before you.
29“Indeed, whoever does any of these detestable things will be cut off from their people.”
30Therefore, you must obey my requirements and not practice any of these disgusting customs which were practiced before you, and you must not make yourselves unclean with them. I am Yahweh your God.’ ”
