Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
"When a man has a swelling, a scab, or a bright spot on his skin, and it could be a serious skin disease, he must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons who are priests.
The priest will examine the affected area on the skin. If the hair in the affected area has turned white, and the area appears to be deeper than the surrounding skin, it is a serious skin disease. The priest will examine him and declare him unclean.
If the bright spot on his skin is white but doesn't appear deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest will quarantine the infected person for seven days.
The priest will examine him on the seventh day. If the affected area has not spread on the skin, the priest will quarantine him for seven more days.
The priest will examine him again on the seventh day. If the affected area has faded and has not spread on the skin, the priest will declare him clean. It is only a scab. He must wash his clothes and will be clean.
But if the scab spreads on his skin after he has presented himself to the priest for cleansing, he must show himself to the priest again.
The priest will examine him. If the scab has spread on the skin, the priest will declare him unclean. It is a serious skin disease.
"When a man has a serious skin disease, he must be brought to the priest.
The priest will examine him. If there is a white swelling on the skin, and the hair in it has turned white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling,
it is a long-standing serious skin disease on his skin. The priest will declare him unclean. He will not quarantine him because he is already unclean.
"If the serious skin disease breaks out and covers all the skin of the infected person from his head to his feet, as far as the priest can see,
then the priest will examine him. If the disease has covered all his flesh, he will declare him clean from the disease. Since it has all turned white, he is clean.
However, if raw flesh appears on him, he will be unclean.
The priest will examine the raw flesh and declare him unclean; the raw flesh is unclean. It is a serious skin disease.
But if the raw flesh changes back and turns white, then he must come to the priest;
and the priest will examine him. If the affected area has turned white, the priest will declare him clean from the disease. He is clean.
"When a person has a boil on his skin and it has healed,
and if there is a white lump or a reddish-white, shiny spot in the place where the boil was, the person must be shown to the priest.
The priest will examine it. If the spot looks deeper than the skin and the hair in it has turned white, the priest will declare the person unclean. It is a skin disease that has broken out from the boil.
But if the priest examines it and sees no white hairs in it, and it isn’t deeper than the skin but is faint, the priest will isolate the person for seven days.
If it spreads on the skin, the priest will declare the person unclean. It is a skin disease.
But if the shiny spot stays in its place and hasn't spread, it is just the scar from the boil, and the priest will declare the person clean.
"Or if a person's body has a burn from fire on its skin, and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a shiny spot, reddish-white or white,
then the priest will examine it. If the hair in the shiny spot has turned white and it looks deeper than the skin, it is a skin disease. It has broken out in the burn, and the priest will declare the person unclean. It is a skin disease.
But if the priest examines it and sees no white hair in the shiny spot, and it isn’t deeper than the skin but is faded, the priest will isolate the person for seven days.
The priest will examine them on the seventh day. If it has spread on the skin, the priest will declare the person unclean. It is a skin disease.
If the shiny spot stays in its place and hasn't spread on the skin, but is faded, it is the swelling from the burn, and the priest will declare the person clean; for it is the scar from the burn.
"When a man or woman has a skin disease on the head or on the beard,
then the priest will examine the skin disease. If it looks deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest will declare the person unclean. It is an itchy skin condition, a skin disease of the head or beard.
If the priest examines the itchy skin disease, and it doesn't look deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, the priest will isolate the person with the itchy skin for seven days.
On the seventh day, the priest will examine the disease. If the itchy patch hasn't spread, and there is no yellow hair in it, and it doesn't look deeper than the skin,
then the person will be shaved, but they must not shave the itchy patch. The priest will isolate the person with the itch for seven more days.
On the seventh day, the priest will examine the itchy patch. If it hasn't spread on the skin and doesn't look deeper than the skin, the priest will declare the person clean. They must wash their clothes, and they will be clean.
But if the itchy patch spreads on the skin after they are declared clean,
then the priest will examine them. If the itchy patch has spread on the skin, the priest will not look for yellow hair; the person is unclean.
But if, in the priest's opinion, the itchy patch has stopped spreading and black hair has grown in it, the itch is healed, and the person is clean. The priest will declare them clean."
“When a man or a woman has bright, white spots on their skin,
the priest will examine them. If the bright spots on their skin are a dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin. The person is clean.
“If a man's hair has fallen out from the top of his head, he is bald. He is clean.
If his hair has fallen out from the front of his head, he is bald on his forehead. He is clean.
But if there is a reddish-white sore on his bald head or bald forehead, it is leprosy breaking out there.
The priest will examine him. If the reddish-white sore on his bald head or bald forehead looks like leprosy on the skin,
he is a man with leprosy. He is unclean. The priest must declare him unclean. The disease is on his head.
“A person with leprosy must wear torn clothes and let their hair hang loose. They must cover their upper lip and cry out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’
They will remain unclean for as long as they have the disease. They are unclean and must live alone. Their home must be outside the camp.
“If clothes have mildew from leprosy, whether they are made of wool or linen,
or if it's in the woven or knitted fabric, of linen or wool, or in an animal skin, or anything made from skin—
if the mildew in the garment, skin, woven fabric, knitted fabric, or anything made of skin is greenish or reddish, it is the disease of leprosy and must be shown to the priest.
The priest will examine the mildew and put the item away for seven days.
On the seventh day, he will examine the mildew again. If the mildew has spread in the garment, woven fabric, knitted fabric, or any item made of skin, it is destructive mildew. It is unclean.
He must burn the garment, whether woven or knitted, made of wool or linen, or anything made from skin that has the mildew. Since it is destructive mildew, it must be burned in the fire.
“If the priest examines it and sees that the mildew has not spread in the garment, woven fabric, knitted fabric, or anything made of skin,
then the priest will command them to wash the item that has the mildew, and he will put it away for seven more days.
Then the priest will examine it after the mildew has been washed. If the mildew hasn't changed color and hasn't spread, it is unclean; you must burn it in the fire. It is deeply embedded mildew, whether the damage is on the inside or outside.
If the priest looks and sees that the mildew has faded after being washed, then he will tear it out of the garment, or out of the skin, or out of the woven fabric, or out of the knitted fabric.
But if it appears again in the garment, whether in the woven fabric, knitted fabric, or anything made of skin, it is spreading. You must burn the item that has the mildew in fire.
If the mildew has disappeared from the garment, whether it's wool, linen, or any leather item you wash, it must be washed a second time, and then it will be clean.”
This is the regulation for mildew on wool or linen clothing, or any leather item, to decide if it is clean or unclean.
