Isaiah

Chapter 54

Hope and the coming Savior.

“Sing, you barren woman who has never given birth! Break into joyful song and shout aloud, you who have never been in labor! For the desolate woman will have more children than the one who is married,” says Yahweh.

“Make your tent larger, and stretch out the curtains of your dwelling; don’t hold back! Lengthen your ropes and strengthen your tent stakes.

For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will take possession of nations and inhabit desolate cities.

"Do not be afraid; you will not be ashamed. Do not be humiliated; you will not be disappointed. For you will forget the shame of your youth and remember the disgrace of your widowhood no more.

For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of Armies is his name. The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he will be called the God of the whole earth.

For Yahweh has called you back like a wife abandoned and deeply grieved, like a young wife who has been rejected,” says your God.

“For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will gather you.

In a moment of overwhelming anger, I turned away from you; but with never-ending love, I will show you mercy,” says Yahweh, your Rescuer.

“This is like the time of Noah for me. Just as I swore that Noah's floodwaters would never again cover the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you or scold you.

Even if the mountains move and the hills disappear, my love for you will not leave, and my promise of peace will not be broken,” says Yahweh, who shows you mercy.

“You who are suffering, tossed by storms and not comforted, look! I will set your stones with beautiful colors and lay your foundations with sapphires.

I will make your towers out of rubies, your gates out of sparkling jewels, and all your walls out of precious stones.

All your children will be taught by Yahweh, and your children will have great peace.

You will be built up on fairness. You will be far from oppression, because you will not be afraid; and far from terror, because it will not come near you.

Look, they may gather together, but it will not be by my doing. Anyone who gathers against you will fall because of you.

“Look, I created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and shapes a weapon for his work; and I created the destroyer to destroy.

No weapon made to harm you will succeed, and you will prove wrong every accusation made against you. This is the inheritance of Yahweh’s servants, and their victory comes from me,” says Yahweh.
