Ezekiel

Chapter 46

Wild visions of God's glory.

The Lord Yahweh says: 'The gate of the inner courtyard that faces east will be shut on the six working days. But it will be opened on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon.'

The prince will enter through the porch of the outer gate and stand by the gatepost. The priests will prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings. He will worship at the gate's threshold, then he will leave. However, the gate will not be closed until evening.

The people of the land will worship before Yahweh at the entrance of that gate on Sabbaths and New Moons.

On the Sabbath day, the burnt offering the prince presents to Yahweh must consist of six lambs and one ram, all without any flaws.

The grain offering will be one ephah for the ram, and for the lambs, as much as he can give, along with one hin of oil per ephah.

On the day of the New Moon, the offering must be one young bull, six lambs, and one ram, all without any flaws.

He must also prepare a grain offering: one ephah for the bull, one ephah for the ram, and for the lambs, as much as he can provide, along with one hin of oil per ephah.

When the prince enters, he will go in through the porch of the gate, and he will leave the same way.

But when the people of the land come before Yahweh at the appointed festivals, anyone who enters through the north gate to worship must leave through the south gate. And anyone who enters through the south gate must leave through the north gate. They must not return through the gate they entered, but must go straight out through the opposite gate.

The prince will go in with them when they enter, and he will go out when they leave.

During the festivals and special celebrations, the grain offering will be one ephah for a bull, one ephah for a ram, and for the lambs, as much as he can give, along with one hin of oil per ephah.

When the prince prepares a freewill offering—either a burnt offering or peace offerings—to Yahweh, the gate facing east will be opened for him. He will prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, just as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he will leave, and after he leaves, the gate will be shut.

You must prepare a one-year-old lamb without any flaws for a burnt offering to Yahweh every day; you must prepare it every morning.

Along with it every morning, you must prepare a grain offering: one-sixth of an ephah of flour and one-third of a hin of oil to moisten the fine flour. This is to be a continuous grain offering to Yahweh, a permanent rule.

So they will prepare the lamb, the grain offering, and the oil every morning as a continual burnt offering.

The Lord Yahweh says, 'If the prince gives a gift to any of his sons, it is their inheritance and will belong to his sons. It will be their possession by inheritance.'

But if he gives a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, it will belong to the servant until the Year of Jubilee; then it will return to the prince. His inheritance, however, will remain with his sons.

Moreover, the prince must not take from the people’s inheritance, forcing them out of their property. He must give inheritance to his sons from his own possessions so that my people are not scattered from their properties.

Then he led me through the entrance, which was at the side of the gate, into the priests' holy rooms that faced north. And look, there was a place at the west end of these rooms.

He told me, 'This is where the priests will boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they will bake the grain offering. This is to prevent them from carrying these offerings out into the outer courtyard and thereby making the people holy through direct contact.'

Then he brought me out into the outer courtyard and led me past all four corners of the courtyard. And look, in each corner of the courtyard there was another court.

In the four corners of the court, there were enclosed courts, forty cubits long and thirty cubits wide. These four corner courts were all the same size.

There was a wall surrounding them, all four of them, and boiling places were made under the walls all around.

Then he said to me, 'These are the boiling houses where the temple attendants will boil the sacrifices of the people.'
