Ammiel was the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth, because God blessed Obed-Edom.
Shemaiah, Obed-Edom's son, also had sons who were leaders in their father's household, because they were strong, brave men.
Shemaiah's sons were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad. His brothers, Elihu and Semachiah, were also brave men.
All these men were descendants of Obed-Edom, including their sons and brothers. They were strong and capable men for service, a total of sixty-two from Obed-Edom's family.
Meshelemiah had sons and brothers who were also brave men, eighteen in total.
Hosah, one of the descendants of Merari, also had sons: Shimri was the leader, even though he was not the firstborn, his father had made him the leader.
Hilkiah was the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. All of Hosah's sons and brothers totaled thirteen men.
These men and their leaders formed the divisions of the doorkeepers, serving in Yahweh’s house just like their relatives.
They cast lots for each gate, for both the young and the old, according to their family groups.
Shelemiah received the east gate by lot. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, who was a wise advisor, and he received the north gate.
Obed-Edom received the south gate, and his sons were in charge of the storerooms.
Shuppim and Hosah received the west gate, by the Shallecheth gate, on the elevated road. They had guards stationed opposite each other.
Six Levites were stationed on the east side, four on the north side each day, four on the south side each day, and two pairs for the storerooms.
For Parbar on the west, four were at the elevated road, and two were at Parbar.
These were the gatekeepers' divisions, from the families of Korah and Merari.
Among the Levites, Ahijah was in charge of the treasures in God's house and the treasures from dedicated things.
The sons of Ladan, specifically the Gershonite sons who belonged to Ladan, and the family heads who belonged to Ladan the Gershonite, included Jehieli.
Jehieli's sons, Zetham and his brother Joel, were in charge of the treasures in Yahweh's house.
These were the Amramites, Izharites, Hebronites, and Uzzielites.
Shebuel, son of Gershom and grandson of Moses, was the chief over the treasures.
His relatives from Eliezer's line were Rehabiah, Jeshaiah, Joram, Zichri, and Shelomoth, each being the son of the previous one.
This Shelomoth and his relatives were in charge of all the treasures of dedicated things, which King David, the family heads, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the army commanders had dedicated.
They dedicated some of the plunder taken in battles to repair Yahweh's house.
Everything that Samuel the prophet, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, and anything else that anyone had dedicated, was under the care of Shelomoth and his relatives.
From the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were responsible for administrative duties in Israel, serving as officers and judges.
From the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, who were strong men, totaling 1,700, were in charge of Israel west of the Jordan River. They handled all matters for Yahweh and for the king's service.
Jerijah was the chief of the Hebronites, according to their family lines. In the fortieth year of David's reign, they were sought out, and strong, skilled men were found among them at Jazer in Gilead.
His relatives, who were strong men, numbered 2,700 family heads. King David appointed them as overseers of the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for all matters concerning God and for the king's affairs.
