Remind them to obey rulers and authorities, to be submissive, and to be ready for every good work.
They should not insult anyone, be argumentative, but rather be gentle, showing complete humility to everyone.
For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved by all sorts of desires and pleasures. We spent our lives in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior for humanity appeared,
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.
This happened so that, having been declared righteous by his grace, we might become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
This message is trustworthy. And I want you to wholeheartedly insist on these things, so that those who have believed God may be careful to devote themselves to doing good works. These things are good and helpful for everyone.
But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments, and quarrels about the law, because they are useless and worthless.
Warn a divisive person once, and then a second time; after that, have nothing more to do with them.
You can be sure that such a person is twisted and sinful; they stand condemned by their own actions.
When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me in Nicopolis, because I have decided to spend the winter there.
Send Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollos on their journey quickly, so they have everything they need.
Our people should also learn to do good deeds to meet urgent needs, so that their lives are productive.
Everyone here with me says hello. Say hello to those who love us in faith. May grace be with all of you. Amen.
