Chapter 86

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

A Prayer by David. Hear me, Yahweh, and answer me, because I am poor and in need.

Protect my life, because I am devoted to you. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.

Be kind to me, Lord, because I call to you all day long.

Make your servant happy, because to you, Lord, I offer my life.

Because you, Lord, are good and ready to forgive; you have plenty of faithful love for everyone who calls on you.

Yahweh, hear my prayer. Listen to my requests.

When I am in trouble, I will call to you, because you will answer me.

Lord, there is no one like you among the gods; none can do the things you do.

All the nations you have made will come and worship you, Lord. They will praise your name.

For you are great and do amazing things. You alone are God.

Yahweh, teach me your ways. I will live by your truth. Help my heart to be fully committed to respecting your name.

Lord, my God, I will praise you with all my heart. I will praise your name forever.

Because your faithful love for me is great. You have saved me from the depths of the grave.

God, arrogant people have attacked me. A gang of violent men want to kill me, and they do not care about you.

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to get angry, and overflowing with faithful love and truth.

Turn to me and have mercy on me! Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your female servant.

Show me a sign of your goodness, so that those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, because you, Yahweh, have helped and comforted me.
