My cry goes out to God! Indeed, I cry to God for help, and for him to listen to me.
In my time of trouble, I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out all night, and it didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted.
I remember God and I groan. I complain and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah.
You keep my eyelids open. I am too troubled to speak.
I have thought about the old days, the years long ago.
I remember my song in the night. I think deeply; my spirit asks seriously:
“Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he never again be kind to us?
Has his loyal love disappeared forever? Will his promise fail for all generations?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, held back his compassion?” Selah.
Then I thought, “I will recall this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
I will remember Yahweh’s deeds; I will remember your miracles from long ago.
I will think about everything you have done, and consider all your works.
God, your way is holy. What god is as great as God?
You are the God who performs miracles. You have shown your strength among the nations.
You rescued your people with your powerful arm, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
The waters saw you, God. The waters saw you and they were in anguish. The deep waters also trembled.
The clouds poured down water. The skies thundered. Your lightning bolts flashed all around.
The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind. The lightning lit up the world. The earth trembled and shook.
Your path went through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, but your footprints were not seen.
You led your people like a flock, guided by Moses and Aaron.
