Chapter 75

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

1For the music leader. Set to the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Psalm by Asaph. A song. We thank you, God. We thank you because your Name is near. People talk about your amazing deeds.

2When I choose the right time, I will judge fairly.

3The earth and everyone on it are trembling, but I am holding its foundations steady. Selah.

4I said to the arrogant, “Don’t brag!” I told the wicked, “Don’t be so defiant.”

5Don’t be so arrogant. Don’t speak with such a proud attitude.”

6Because promotion comes from neither the east, nor the west, nor the desert to the south.

7But God is the judge. He brings down one person and raises another.

8In Yahweh’s hand is a cup filled with foamy wine mixed with spices. He pours it out, and indeed all the wicked people of the earth will drink it down to the very last drop.

9But I will always declare this: I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10I will break all the power of the wicked, but the power of the righteous will be increased.
