Chapter 62

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

For the music leader. To Jeduthun. A Psalm by David. I find peace in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation, my strong tower; I will never be greatly shaken.

How long will all of you attack a person, trying to knock him down, like a leaning wall or a wobbly fence?

They plan only to bring him down from his high position. They enjoy lies. They speak blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah.

My soul, be silent and wait for God alone, because my hope comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation, my strong tower; I will not be shaken.

My salvation and my honor come from God. God is the rock of my strength and my safe place.

Trust in him at all times, people. Pour out your heart to him. God is a safe place for us. Selah.

Truly, ordinary people are nothing more than a breath, and powerful people are a lie. When weighed on a scale, they are together lighter than a breath.

Don’t trust in oppression. Don’t get carried away by stealing. If wealth increases, don’t set your heart on it.

God has spoken once; I have heard it twice: that power belongs to God.

And to you, Lord, belongs unfailing love, for you reward everyone according to what they have done.
