Chapter 53

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

1For the main musician. To the tune of “Mahalath.” A reflective psalm by David. The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt and have committed terrible evil. No one does good.

2God looks down from heaven at the people to see if anyone understands or seeks after God.

3They have all turned away. Together, they have become dirty. No one does good, not even one.

4Do these evil people have no knowledge? They devour my people as if they were eating bread, and they do not call on God.

5There they were, very afraid, even when there was no reason to be, because God has scattered the bones of those who attacked you. You have shamed them, because God has rejected them.

6If only Israel's salvation would come from Zion! When God brings his people back from captivity, then Jacob will be joyful, and Israel will be glad.
