Psalms

Chapter 52

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

1For the main musician. A reflective psalm by David, when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, “David has come to Ahimelech’s house.” Why do you brag about your evil, mighty man? God’s unfailing love continues forever.

2Your tongue plans destruction, like a sharp razor, always working deceitfully.

3You love evil more than good, lying more than telling the truth. Selah.

4You love all words that destroy, you deceitful tongue.

5God will destroy you forever in the same way. He will grab you, pull you out of your tent, and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.

6Righteous people will see it and be afraid, and they will laugh at him, saying,

7“Look, this is the man who did not make God his strength, but trusted in his many riches and made himself strong through his wickedness.”

8But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God’s house. I trust in God’s unfailing love forever and ever.

9I will thank you forever, because you have done this. I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your holy people.
