A Psalm. A Song for the Dedication of the Temple. By David. I will praise you, Yahweh, because you have lifted me up and have not let my enemies gloat over me.
Yahweh my God, I cried to you, and you healed me.
Yahweh, you brought me back from the grave. You kept me alive so I would not go down to the pit.
Sing praises to Yahweh, you loyal followers of his. Give thanks to his holy name.
His anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
As for me, when I was doing well, I said, "I will never be shaken."
Yahweh, when you showed me favor, you made my mountain stand strong; but when you turned away from me, I was troubled.
I cried out to you, Yahweh. I pleaded with the Lord:
"What good is it if I die, if I go down to the pit? Can dust praise you? Can it declare your truth?
Hear me, Yahweh, and have mercy on me. Yahweh, be my helper."
You turned my sorrow into dancing. You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
So that my heart may sing praise to you and not be silent. Yahweh my God, I will thank you forever!
