For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. The king rejoices in your strength, Yahweh! How greatly he rejoices in your victory!
You have given him what his heart desired and have not refused what he asked. Selah.
For you welcomed him with abundant blessings. You placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—a long life, forever and ever.
His glory is great because of your victory. You bestow honor and majesty on him.
For you have made him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence.
For the king trusts in Yahweh. Through the loving kindness of the Most High, he will not be shaken.
Your hand will find all your enemies. Your right hand will find those who hate you.
You will make them like a fiery furnace when you are angry. Yahweh will swallow them in His wrath; fire will devour them.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from among humanity.
For they planned evil against you. They plotted against you, but they cannot succeed.
For you will make them turn their backs when you aim your bows at their faces.
Rise in your strength, Yahweh, and we will sing and praise your power.
