Why do the nations rage, and the people plan useless things?
The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers conspire together against Yahweh and against his Anointed one, saying,
"Let's break their chains and throw off their ropes!"
He who sits in heaven will laugh. The Lord will scoff at them.
Then in his anger, he will speak to them and terrify them with his wrath:
"But I have installed my King on my holy hill of Zion."
I will declare the decree. Yahweh said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.
Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as your possession.
You will break them with an iron rod. You will smash them to pieces like a clay pot."
So now, you kings, be wise. Be warned, you judges of the earth.
Serve Yahweh with reverence, and celebrate with trembling.
Show deep respect to the Son, or he may become angry, and you will die on your way, for his anger can ignite quickly. Blessed are all who find safety in him.
