Chapter 16

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

A Poem by David. Protect me, God, because I come to you for safety.

My soul, you have told Yahweh, “You are my Lord. I have nothing good apart from you.”

As for the holy people on earth, they are wonderful, and they bring me complete joy.

Those who offer sacrifices to other gods will have many troubles. I will not pour out their offerings of blood, nor will I even speak the names of their gods.

Yahweh has given me my share and my portion. You have made my future secure.

My life has been set in pleasant places. Yes, I have a wonderful inheritance.

I will praise Yahweh, who has advised me. Even at night, my conscience teaches me.

I always keep Yahweh in my thoughts. Because he is by my side, I will not be moved.

Therefore my heart is happy, and my tongue rejoices. My body will also rest in safety.

Because you will not leave my soul in the grave, nor will you let your holy one decay.

You will show me the path of life. In your presence, there is complete joy. At your right hand, there are eternal pleasures.
