By David. Blessed be Yahweh, my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle:
He is my faithful love, my fortress, my high tower, my deliverer, my shield, and the one in whom I take refuge; he subdues my people under me.
Yahweh, what is mankind, that you care for them? Or human beings, that you think of them?
Humans are like a breath. Their days are like a fleeting shadow.
Separate your heavens, Yahweh, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
Throw out lightning and scatter them. Shoot your arrows and make them run away.
Reach down from above and pull me out; rescue me from the powerful waters, from the hands of foreigners.
They tell lies, and they make false promises.
God, I will sing a new song to you. I will sing praises to you with a ten-stringed lyre.
You give victory to kings; you rescue your servant David from the deadly sword.
Rescue me and save me from the hands of foreigners, who tell lies and make false promises.
Then our sons will be like strong, healthy plants, and our daughters will be like carved pillars adorning a palace.
Our barns will be full, stocked with all kinds of supplies. Our sheep will produce thousands and tens of thousands in our fields.
Our oxen will be able to carry heavy loads. There will be no raids, no exiles, and no shouts of distress in our streets.
Happy are the people who are in such a situation. Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh.
