A Song of Ascents. By David. I was happy when people said to me, “Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!”
Our feet are now standing inside your gates, Jerusalem;
Jerusalem, built as a city where everything fits together tightly;
where the tribes go up, Yahweh’s tribes, as the law requires for Israel, to give thanks to Yahweh’s name.
For there, thrones for judgment are set, the thrones of David’s family.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.
May there be peace within your walls, and success within your palaces.
For the sake of my relatives and friends, I will now say, “May you have peace.”
For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek your well-being.
