Chapter 119

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

ALEPH Happy are those whose lives are faultless, who live according to Yahweh's law.

Happy are those who follow his rules, who search for him with all their heart.

Yes, they do nothing wrong. They live the way he wants.

You commanded us to fully obey your instructions.

Oh, I wish I would always obey your rules!

Then I wouldn't be ashamed when I think about all your commands.

I will thank you with an honest heart when I learn your fair laws.

I will follow your rules. Please don't completely abandon me. BET

How can a young person keep their life morally clean? By living according to your word.

I have searched for you with all my heart. Don't let me stray from your commands.

I have hidden your word in my heart so I won't sin against you.

May you be praised, Yahweh. Teach me your rules.

With my own lips, I have spoken about all the rules you have given.

I have found as much joy in following your guidelines as in having great wealth.

I will think about your instructions and consider the way you do things.

I will find joy in your laws. I will not forget your word.

Be good to your servant. Then I will live and obey your word.

Open my eyes so I can see the wonderful things in your law.

I am like a visitor on Earth. Don’t hide your commands from me.

My soul constantly aches with a deep desire for your rules.

You have told off the proud people who are cursed because they ignore your commands.

Take away the insults and scorn from me, because I have followed your laws.

Even if rulers sit and speak badly about me, your servant will still think about your laws.

Your laws are truly my joy and my trusted advisors.

I am humbled in the dust. Give me new life, as you promised in your word!

I told you about my life, and you answered me. Teach me your laws.

Help me understand the meaning of your instructions! Then I will think about your amazing works.

My soul is exhausted with sadness: strengthen me as you promised in your word.

Keep me from living a life of lies. Kindly grant me your law!

I have chosen the path of truth. I have placed your rules before me.

I hold tightly to your laws, Yahweh. Don’t let me be disappointed.

I run in the path of your commands, because you have set my heart free.

Yahweh, teach me the way of your laws, and I will follow them completely.

Give me understanding so I can keep your law; I will obey it with all my heart.

Guide me in the path of your commands, because I enjoy them.

Turn my heart toward your laws, not toward getting rich.

Turn my eyes away from worthless things; make me live according to your ways.

Keep your promise to your servant, the promise that leads to reverence for you.

Remove the disgrace I fear, for your rules are good.

Look, I long for your instructions! Give me new life through your righteousness.

Let your faithful love come to me, Yahweh, your salvation, as you promised.

Then I will have an answer for those who insult me, because I trust in your word.

Do not let me stop speaking your truthful word, for I put my hope in your rules.

So I will obey your law continually, forever and ever.

I will walk freely, because I have sought your instructions.

I will speak about your laws even before kings, and I will not be ashamed.

I will find joy in your commands, because I love them.

I lift my hands to your commands, which I love; I will think about your laws.

Remember your promise to your servant, because it has given me hope.

The arrogant mock me relentlessly, but I do not turn away from your law.

I remember your ancient rules, Yahweh, and I find comfort in them.

I am filled with anger because of the wicked people who abandon your law.

How many days does your servant have left? When will you punish those who persecute me?

The proud have dug pits to trap me, which goes against your law.

All your commands are trustworthy. They persecute me for no reason; please help me!

They almost completely destroyed me from the earth, but I did not abandon your instructions.
