Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“Tell the people of Israel: ‘When a man or woman makes a special vow, a Nazirite vow, to dedicate themselves to Yahweh,
they must abstain from wine and strong drink. They must not drink wine vinegar or fermented drink vinegar. They must not drink any grape juice or eat fresh grapes or dried grapes.
Throughout the time of their dedication, they must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, from the seeds to the skins.
“‘Throughout the time of their vow of dedication, no razor may touch their head. They must be holy until the days are completed during which they have dedicated themselves to Yahweh. They must let the hair of their head grow long.
“‘Throughout the time they dedicate themselves to Yahweh, they must not go near a dead body.
He must not make himself unclean for his father, mother, brother, or sister when they die, because his commitment to God is on his head.
Throughout his time of commitment, he is holy to Yahweh.
If someone suddenly dies next to him and makes his committed head unclean, he must shave his head on the day he becomes clean. He must shave it on the seventh day.
On the eighth day, he must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.
The priest will offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering. He will make things right for the man, because he sinned by being near the dead. The priest will make his head holy again that same day.
He must dedicate the days of his commitment to Yahweh again and bring a male lamb a year old as a guilt offering. But the previous days will not count, because his commitment was made unclean.
This is the law for a Nazirite: when the days of his commitment are finished, he must be brought to the entrance of the Meeting Tent.
He must offer his gifts to Yahweh: one male lamb a year old without any flaws for a burnt offering, one female lamb a year old without any flaws for a sin offering, and one ram without any flaws for peace offerings.
He must also bring a basket of unleavened bread, which includes cakes of fine flour mixed with oil and unleavened wafers brushed with oil, along with their grain offerings and drink offerings.
The priest will present these before Yahweh and offer his sin offering and his burnt offering.
He will offer the ram as a peace offering to Yahweh, along with the basket of unleavened bread. The priest will also offer its grain offering and its drink offering.
The Nazirite must shave his committed hair at the entrance of the Meeting Tent, take the hair, and put it on the fire that is under the peace offering.
The priest will take the boiled shoulder of the ram, one unleavened cake from the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and place them in the hands of the Nazirite after he has shaved his committed hair.
The priest will wave them as a special offering before Yahweh. These are holy for the priest, along with the waved breast and the offered thigh. After this, the Nazirite may drink wine.
This is the law for a Nazirite who makes a vow, and for his offering to Yahweh for his commitment, in addition to whatever else he can afford. He must do exactly as he vowed, according to the law of his commitment.
Yahweh said to Moses,
“Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the people of Israel.’ You are to tell them,
‘May Yahweh bless you and keep you.
May Yahweh smile on you and be kind to you.
May Yahweh look favorably on you and give you peace.’”
“So they will attach my name to the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”
