Micah

Chapter 4

Do justice, love mercy, walk humbly.

But in the last days, the mountain where Yahweh's temple stands will be established as the highest of all mountains, rising above the hills, and people from everywhere will stream to it.

Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to Yahweh’s mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, and we will follow his paths.” For his law will go out from Zion, and Yahweh’s word from Jerusalem.

He will judge between many peoples and make decisions for powerful nations far away. They will turn their swords into farming tools and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Instead, everyone will sit peacefully under their own grapevines and fig trees, and no one will make them afraid. Yahweh of Armies has promised this.

While all other nations may follow their own gods, we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God forever and ever.

Yahweh says, “On that day, I will gather those who are injured, those who were driven away, and those whom I have afflicted.

And I will make those who were lame into a remnant, and those who were cast far off into a strong nation. Yahweh will rule over them on Mount Zion from that time on, and forever.”

You, tower of the flock, stronghold of Daughter Zion, your former authority will return to you; the kingdom will come back to Daughter Jerusalem.

Now why are you crying out so loudly? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor perished, that pain has seized you like a woman in labor?

Be in pain and struggle to give birth, Daughter Zion, like a woman in labor. For now you will leave the city and live in the open country, and you will even go to Babylon. There you will be rescued. There Yahweh will set you free from your enemies.

Now many nations have gathered against you, saying, 'Let her be shamed, and let us enjoy seeing Zion defeated.'

But they don’t understand Yahweh’s thoughts or his plan; for he has gathered them like bundles of grain to the threshing floor.

Get up and thresh, daughter of Zion; for I will make your horn like iron, and your hooves like bronze; and you will crush many peoples. I will dedicate their plunder to Yahweh, and their wealth to the Lord of the whole earth.
