How terrible it will be for those who plan evil and do wrong in their beds! As soon as morning comes, they carry it out, because they have the power to do so.
They want fields, so they take them. They want houses, so they seize them. They cheat a man out of his home and his inheritance.
Therefore, Yahweh says: “Listen, I am planning a disaster against these people, one from which you will not be able to escape. You will no longer walk proudly, because it will be a time of evil.”
On that day, people will tell a proverb about you and mourn with a sad song, saying, ‘We are completely ruined! My people’s land has been divided. Indeed, he takes it from me and gives our fields to traitors!’”
Therefore, you will have no one to divide the land by lot in Yahweh’s assembly.
They say, “Don’t prophesy!” They prophesy, “Don’t prophesy about these things. Disgrace won’t happen to us.”
Should it be said, O people of Jacob: “Is Yahweh’s Spirit angry? Are these his actions? Don’t my words bring good to those who live blamelessly?”
But recently, my people have acted like an enemy. You strip the outer robe and underclothing from those who pass by peacefully, returning from war.
You drive the women of my people out of their pleasant homes; you take my blessing from their young children forever.
Get up and leave! For this is not your resting place, because your uncleanness will destroy you, even with severe destruction.
If a man, full of a deceptive spirit, were to lie and say, “I will prophesy to you about wine and strong drink,” he would be the kind of prophet these people would want.
I will surely gather all of you, Jacob; I will gather the remaining people of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in Bozrah, like a flock in their pasture; they will be teeming with people.
The one who breaks open the way will go before them. They will break through the gate and go out. Their king will pass on before them, with Yahweh leading them.
