On the third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and Jesus' mother was there.
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother told him, "They have no more wine."
Jesus said to her, "Dear woman, why does that concern us? My time has not yet come."
His mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
There were six stone water jars standing there, used for the Jewish purification rituals, and each one could hold about twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." They filled them to the very top.
Then he instructed them, "Now scoop some out and take it to the master of the feast." So they did.
When the master of the feast tasted the water that had turned into wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom over.
He said to him, "Everyone else serves the good wine first, and then, after the guests have had a lot to drink, they bring out the cheaper wine. But you have saved the best wine until now!"
This was the first of Jesus' miraculous signs, done in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
After this, he went down to Capernaum with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.
The Jewish Passover was approaching, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
In the temple courts, he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.
He made a whip out of cords and drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He poured out the money changers' coins and overturned their tables.
To those selling doves, he said, "Get these things out of here! Stop turning my Father's house into a marketplace!"
His disciples remembered that it was written: "Passion for your house will consume me."
The Jews then asked him, "What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority for doing these things?"
Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."
The Jews replied, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?"
But Jesus was talking about the temple of his own body.
So when Jesus was raised from the dead, his followers remembered that he had said this. Then they believed the Scripture and the words Jesus had spoken.
While Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, many people believed in him when they saw the miraculous signs he performed.
But Jesus did not fully trust them, because he knew what every person was like.
He didn't need anyone to tell him about people, because he himself knew what was in their hearts.
