Isaiah

Chapter 62

Hope and the coming Savior.

For the sake of Zion, I will not be silent. For the sake of Jerusalem, I will not rest until her righteousness shines out like the dawn, and her salvation glows like a burning lamp.

Nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that Yahweh himself will choose.

You will also be a beautiful crown in Yahweh's hand, a royal crown in your God's hand.

You will no longer be called 'Forsaken'; your land will no longer be called 'Desolate.' Instead, you will be called 'Hephzibah' (which means 'My Delight is in Her'), and your land 'Beulah' (which means 'Married'). For Yahweh delights in you, and your land will be married.

Just as a young man marries a virgin, so your children will marry you. Just as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.

I have placed watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. They will never be silent, day or night. You who call out to Yahweh, do not rest,

and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a city praised throughout the earth.

Yahweh has promised with his strong right hand and powerful arm: "Never again will I give your grain as food to your enemies. Foreigners will not drink your new wine, for which you have worked so hard.

Instead, those who harvest the grain will eat it and praise Yahweh. Those who gather the wine will drink it in the courts of my sanctuary."

Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people! Build up, build up the highway! Clear out the stones! Raise a banner for the people.

Look! Yahweh has announced to the ends of the earth: "Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Look! Your salvation is coming! Look! His reward is with him, and his payment is before him.'"

They will be called 'The Holy People,' 'Yahweh's Redeemed.' And you will be called 'Sought Out,' 'A City Not Forsaken.'
