Isaiah

Chapter 56

Hope and the coming Savior.

Yahweh says, “Uphold justice and do what is right; for my salvation is coming soon, and my righteousness will soon be revealed.

Blessed is the person who does this, and the one who holds onto it—who keeps the Sabbath without defiling it, and keeps their hand from doing any evil.”

No foreigner who has joined themselves to Yahweh should say, “Yahweh will surely separate me from his people.” And the eunuch should not say, “Look, I am a dry tree.”

For Yahweh says, “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, choose what pleases me, and hold fast to my covenant:

I will give them a memorial and a name within my house and walls that is better than sons and daughters. I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off.

And the foreigners who join themselves to Yahweh to serve him, to love Yahweh’s name, and to be his servants—everyone who keeps the Sabbath from defiling it and holds fast to my covenant—

I will bring them to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar, for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”

The Lord Yahweh, who gathers the exiles of Israel, says, “I will gather still others to them, in addition to those already gathered.”

All you animals of the field, come to devour; all you animals in the forest.

His watchmen are blind; they know nothing. They are all like silent dogs that cannot bark; they lie around dreaming, loving to sleep.

Yes, these dogs are greedy; they can never get enough. They are shepherds who cannot understand. They all turn to their own way, each one seeking his own gain from every direction.

“Come,” they say, “I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink. Tomorrow will be just like today, even greater!”
