Wake up, wake up! Put on your strength, Zion. Put on your beautiful clothes, Jerusalem, the holy city; for from now on, those who are not consecrated and those who are unclean will no longer enter you.
Shake off the dust! Get up, sit down, Jerusalem! Free yourself from the chains around your neck, captive daughter of Zion!
For Yahweh says, “You were sold for nothing; and you will be bought back without money.”
For the Lord Yahweh says this: “My people first went down to Egypt to live there; and Assyria has oppressed them without reason.”
“So now, what am I doing here,” says Yahweh, “seeing that my people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them mock,” says Yahweh, “and my name is disrespected continually all day long.”
Therefore my people will know my name. Therefore in that day they will know that I am the one who speaks. Look, it is I.”
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one who brings good news, who announces peace, who brings good news of happiness, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Your watchmen raise their voices, together they sing; for they will see clearly when Yahweh returns to Zion.
Burst into joy, sing together, you ruined places of Jerusalem; for Yahweh has comforted his people. He has rescued Jerusalem.
Yahweh has openly shown his holy power to all the nations; and everyone on earth has seen the salvation that comes from our God.
Leave, leave! Get out of there! Don’t touch anything unclean! Get out of her midst! Cleanse yourselves, you who carry the vessels of Yahweh.
You will not have to leave quickly or run away, because Yahweh will go before you, and the God of Israel will protect you from behind.
Indeed, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised up, lifted high, and greatly honored.
Just as many were shocked by him (his appearance was so disfigured he barely looked human, and his form was more marred than anyone else),
so he will sprinkle many nations. Kings will be silent in his presence, because they will see what they had not been told, and they will understand what they had not heard.
