Ezekiel

Chapter 48

Wild visions of God's glory.

Now these are the names of the tribes: Starting from the north, along the road from Hethlon to the entrance of Hamath, and Hazar Enan at the border of Damascus, northward beside Hamath (with their eastern and western boundaries), Dan will have one portion.

Alongside Dan's border, from the east side to the west side, Asher will have one portion.

Alongside Asher's border, from the east side to the west side, Naphtali will have one portion.

Alongside Naphtali's border, from the east side to the west side, Manasseh will have one portion.

Alongside Manasseh's border, from the east side to the west side, Ephraim will have one portion.

Alongside Ephraim's border, from the east side to the west side, Reuben will have one portion.

Alongside Reuben's border, from the east side to the west side, Judah will have one portion.

Alongside the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, will be the sacred offering measuring twenty-five thousand reeds wide, and as long as one of the other portions, from the east side to the west side. The sanctuary will be in the middle of it.

The sacred offering you dedicate to Yahweh will be twenty-five thousand reeds long and ten thousand reeds wide.

This holy offering will be for the priests: twenty-five thousand reeds long to the north, ten thousand reeds wide to the west, ten thousand reeds wide to the east, and twenty-five thousand reeds long to the south. The sanctuary of Yahweh will be in the middle of it.

This will be for the priests, the consecrated sons of Zadok, who followed my instructions and did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, unlike the Levites.

This land will be a very holy part of the land's offering for them, next to the Levites' border.

Next to the priests' border, the Levites will have twenty-five thousand reeds in length and ten thousand reeds in width. The entire length will be twenty-five thousand, and the width will be ten thousand.

They must not sell any of it, nor exchange it, nor transfer ownership of these first fruits of the land, because it is holy to Yahweh.

The remaining five thousand reeds in width, in front of the twenty-five thousand, will be for common use, for the city, for housing, and for its surrounding open land. The city will be in the middle of it.

Its measurements will be: four thousand five hundred reeds on the north side, four thousand five hundred on the south side, four thousand five hundred on the east side, and four thousand five hundred on the west side.

The city will have open land around it: two hundred fifty reeds to the north, two hundred fifty to the south, two hundred fifty to the east, and two hundred fifty to the west.

The remainder of the length, corresponding to the holy offering, will be ten thousand reeds eastward and ten thousand reeds westward. This land will correspond to the holy offering, and its produce will provide food for those who work in the city.

People who work in the city, from all the tribes of Israel, will farm this area.

The entire offering will be a square, twenty-five thousand units by twenty-five thousand units. You must present it as a holy offering, along with the city’s property.

The remaining land will belong to the prince, on both sides of the holy offering and the city’s property. It will be in front of the twenty-five thousand units of the offering towards the eastern border, and westward in front of the twenty-five thousand units towards the western border. This land, equal in size to the other portions, will be for the prince. The holy offering and the sanctuary of the house will be in the middle of it.

Also, the land for the Levites and the city's land, located in the middle of the prince's territory, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, will belong to the prince.

As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west side, Benjamin will have one portion.

Next to Benjamin’s border, from the east side to the west side, Simeon will have one portion.

Next to Simeon’s border, from the east side to the west side, Issachar will have one portion.

Next to Issachar’s border, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun will have one portion.

Next to Zebulun’s border, from the east side to the west side, Gad will have one portion.

Next to Gad’s border, on the south side facing southward, the border will extend from Tamar to the waters of Meribath Kadesh, to the brook, and to the Great Sea.

This is the land that you will divide by lot among the tribes of Israel as their inheritance, and these are their assigned portions, says the Lord Yahweh.

These are the city’s exits: On the north side, the measurement is four thousand five hundred units.

The city gates will be named after the tribes of Israel, with three gates on the north: one gate for Reuben, one for Judah, and one for Levi.

On the east side, the measurement is four thousand five hundred units, with three gates: one gate for Joseph, one for Benjamin, and one for Dan.

On the south side, the measurement is four thousand five hundred units, with three gates: one gate for Simeon, one for Issachar, and one for Zebulun.

On the west side, the measurement is four thousand five hundred units, with their three gates: one gate for Gad, one for Asher, and one for Naphtali.

The total perimeter will be eighteen thousand units. And from that day on, the city will be named, 'Yahweh is there.'
