Ezekiel

Chapter 42

Wild visions of God's glory.

Then he led me out into the outer courtyard, going north. He brought me into the room that was across from the separate area and across from the building to the north.

The north door was in front of a length of one hundred cubits, and the width was fifty cubits.

Across from the twenty cubits belonging to the inner courtyard, and across from the paved area of the outer courtyard, there were galleries stacked on top of each other on the third level.

In front of the rooms, there was a walk ten cubits wide leading inward, a path one cubit wide; and their doors faced north.

The upper rooms were shorter because the galleries took up more space from them compared to the lower and middle rooms in the building.

They were three stories high, and they didn't have supporting pillars like the courtyard pillars. Therefore, the top story was set back further from the ground than the lowest and middle stories.

The outer wall next to the rooms, facing the outer courtyard in front of the rooms, was fifty cubits long.

The rooms in the outer courtyard were fifty cubits long. And look, there were one hundred cubits in front of the temple.

The entrance to these rooms was on the east side, allowing access from the outer courtyard.

Along the eastern wall of the courtyard, in front of the separate area and main building, there were rooms.

The pathway in front of these rooms looked like the rooms facing north. Their length and width were the same, and all their exits had similar designs and doors.

Similar to the doors of the rooms facing south, there was a door at the beginning of the path, directly in front of the eastern wall, where people would enter.

Then he told me, "The rooms to the north and the south, which are in front of the separate area, are holy rooms. The priests who serve Yahweh will eat the most holy offerings there. This is where they will place the most holy offerings, the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, because the place is holy."

When the priests enter the holy place, they must not go out into the outer courtyard. Instead, they must leave their holy garments there, for they are sacred. They must then put on other clothes before going out to attend to the people.

After he finished measuring the inner house, he led me out through the east-facing gate and measured the area all around.

He measured five hundred reeds on the east side with the measuring rod, measuring all around.

He measured five hundred reeds on the north side with the measuring rod, measuring all around.

He measured five hundred reeds on the south side with the measuring rod.

He turned to the west side and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring rod.

He measured it on all four sides. It had a wall around it, five hundred units long and five hundred units wide, to separate what was holy from what was common.
