In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
“Son of man, sing a mournful song about Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Tell him, ‘You were like a young lion among the nations, yet you are like a monster in the seas. You burst out with your rivers, troubled the waters with your feet, and muddied their rivers.’
This is what the Lord Yahweh says: ‘I will spread my net over you with a company of many peoples, and they will bring you up in my net.’
‘I will leave you on the land. I will throw you out into the open field and cause all the birds of the sky to settle on you. I will feed all the animals of the whole earth with you.’
‘I will scatter your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your massive body.’
‘I will also water the land where you swim with your blood, even to the mountains; and the streams will be full of you.’
‘When I put you out, I will cover the heavens and make its stars dark. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.’
‘I will make all the bright lights in the sky dark over you and bring darkness over your land, says the Lord Yahweh.’
‘I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring your destruction among the nations, into countries you have not known.’
‘Yes, I will make many peoples amazed at you, and their kings will be terrified because of you, when I swing my sword before them. They will tremble constantly, each man fearing for his own life, on the day of your fall.’
For this is what the Lord Yahweh says: ‘The sword of the king of Babylon will come upon you.’
‘I will make your multitude fall by the swords of mighty warriors; they are all the most ruthless of nations. They will destroy the pride of Egypt, and all its multitude will be wiped out.’
“I will also destroy all its animals from beside many waters. No human foot will trouble them anymore, nor will the hooves of animals disturb them.”
“Then I will make their waters clear and cause their rivers to flow like oil, says the Lord Yahweh.”
“When I make the land of Egypt desolate and empty, a land stripped of everything it once contained, when I strike down all who live there, then they will know that I am Yahweh.”
“This is the mournful song they will sing; the daughters of nations will sing it. They will sing this mournful song over Egypt and all its many people, says the Lord Yahweh.”
Also, in the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
Son of man, mourn for the many people of Egypt. Cast them, along with the daughters of famous nations, down to the lowest parts of the earth, with those who go down to the pit.
Who do you think you are more beautiful than? Go down and lie with those who are not circumcised.
They will fall among those killed by the sword. She is given over to the sword; drag her away with all her crowds.
The strongest among the mighty will speak to him from the middle of the grave, along with those who helped him. They have gone down; they lie still, even the uncircumcised, killed by the sword.
Assyria is there with all her army; their graves are all around her. All of them are killed, fallen by the sword.
Their graves are in the deepest parts of the pit, and her army is around her grave. All of them are killed, fallen by the sword, those who caused terror in the land of the living.
Elam is there with all her many people around her grave. All of them are killed, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised into the lowest parts of the earth, who spread terror in the land of the living, and have carried their shame with those who go down to the pit.
They have made a bed for her among the dead, with all her many people. Her graves are around her. All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword, because they caused terror in the land of the living, and they have carried their shame with those who go down to the pit. He is placed among those who are killed.
Meshech, Tubal, and all their many people are there. Their graves are around them. All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword, because they spread terror in the land of the living.
They will not lie with the mighty uncircumcised warriors who have fallen, who went down to the grave with their weapons of war, and placed their swords under their heads. Their sins are upon their bones, for they were a terror to the mighty in the land of the living.
But you will be destroyed among the uncircumcised and will lie with those killed by the sword.
Edom is there, with her kings and all her princes, who, despite their power, are laid with those killed by the sword. They will lie with the uncircumcised and with those who go down to the pit.
All the princes of the north are there, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain. They are put to shame because of the terror they caused with their power. They lie uncircumcised with those killed by the sword and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.
Pharaoh will see them and will be comforted concerning all his many people, even Pharaoh and all his army, killed by the sword, says the Lord Yahweh.
For I have put his terror in the land of the living, and he will be laid among the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his many people, says the Lord Yahweh.
