Again, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
Son of Man, prophesy and say, 'This is what the Lord Yahweh says: Wail! Oh, what a terrible day!'
For the day is near, the day of Yahweh is near. It will be a day of clouds, a time of judgment for the nations.
A sword will come upon Egypt, and anguish will be in Ethiopia when the slaughtered fall in Egypt. They will carry away its wealth, and its foundations will be torn down.
Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all the mixed peoples, Cub, and the people of the land allied with them will fall by the sword along with them.
Yahweh says: 'Those who support Egypt will also fall, and the pride of its power will collapse. From Migdol to Syene, they will fall by the sword within it,' says the Lord Yahweh.
They will be desolate among the desolate countries, and their cities will be among the ruined cities.
They will know that I am Yahweh when I set fire to Egypt and all its helpers are destroyed.
On that day, messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten the unsuspecting Ethiopians. They will be in anguish, like on the day of Egypt, because, look, it is coming.
This is what the Lord Yahweh says: 'I will also put an end to the large population of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.'
He and his people with him, the most brutal of nations, will be brought in to destroy the land. They will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slaughtered.
I will dry up the rivers and sell the land into the hand of evil men. I will make the land and everything in it desolate by the hand of foreigners. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.
This is what the Lord Yahweh says: 'I will also destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. There will no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt, and I will put fear in the land of Egypt.'
I will make Pathros desolate, set fire to Zoan, and carry out judgments on Thebes.
I will pour out my wrath on Sin, the stronghold of Egypt, and I will cut off the large population of Thebes.
I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin will be in great anguish, Thebes will be broken up, and Memphis will have daytime enemies.
The young men of Aven and Pibeseth will die in battle and be led away as captives.
At Tehaphnehes, the light of day will also disappear when I break the power of Egypt there, and her great strength will be gone. A cloud will cover her, and her people will be taken captive.
This is how I will punish Egypt, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
On the seventh day of the first month in the eleventh year, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
“Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Look, it has not been bandaged or treated with medicine to make it strong enough to hold a sword.”
Therefore, the Lord Yahweh says this: “Look, I am against Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. I will break both his strong arm and the one that was already broken, and I will make him drop his sword.
I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and spread them throughout various countries.
I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand. But I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he will groan before him like a person who is dying from a fatal wound.
I will support the arms of the king of Babylon, and Pharaoh’s arms will fall limp. Then they will know that I am Yahweh when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he uses it against the land of Egypt.
I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and spread them throughout various countries. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.”
