Moses gathered everyone in the community of Israel and told them, "These are the things Yahweh has commanded you to do:
'You are to work for six days, but the seventh day will be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of complete rest dedicated to Yahweh. Anyone who does any work on that day must be put to death.
You must not light any fires in your homes on the Sabbath day.'"
Moses said to the entire community of Israel, "This is what Yahweh has commanded:
'Take an offering for Yahweh from among you. Everyone who is willing should bring an offering to Yahweh: gold, silver, and bronze;
blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen and goat hair;
rams' skins dyed red, sea cow hides, and acacia wood;
oil for the lamp; spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense;
onyx stones and other gems to be set in the ephod and the breastplate.
Every skilled craftsman among you should come and make everything Yahweh has commanded:
the tabernacle, its outer covering, its roof, its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its bases;
the ark and its poles, the mercy seat, and the curtain for the screen;
the table with its poles and all its utensils, and the Bread of the Presence;
the lampstand for the light, with its utensils, its lamps, and the oil for the light;
and the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil, the sweet incense, and the curtain for the entrance of the tabernacle;
the altar for burnt offerings, with its bronze grate, its poles, and all its utensils; the basin and its stand;
the curtains for the courtyard, its pillars, their bases, and the curtain for the gate of the courtyard;
the tent pegs for the tabernacle, the tent pegs for the courtyard, and their ropes;
the specially woven garments for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to serve as priests.'"
All the people of Israel left Moses' presence.
Everyone whose heart moved them and whose spirit made them willing came and brought their offering to Yahweh for the work of the Tent of Meeting, for all its services, and for the sacred clothing.
Men and women came, everyone who was willing-hearted, and brought brooches, earrings, signet rings, and armlets—all sorts of gold jewelry. Every man offered a gift of gold to Yahweh.
Everyone who had blue, purple, scarlet yarn, fine linen, goat hair, rams' skins dyed red, and sea cow hides brought them.
Everyone who offered silver or bronze brought it as Yahweh's offering. Everyone who had acacia wood for any work of the service brought it.
All the skilled women spun with their hands and brought what they had spun: blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.
All the women whose hearts moved them with skill spun the goat hair.
The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be set in the ephod and the breastplate,
and spices and oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.
The people of Israel, both men and women, brought a freewill offering to Yahweh; everyone whose heart made them willing to contribute to all the work that Yahweh had commanded through Moses.
Moses told the people of Israel, "Look, Yahweh has specifically chosen Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah.
He has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him skill, understanding, knowledge, and ability in all kinds of craftsmanship.
He can create artistic designs, work with gold, silver, and bronze,
cut and set stones, carve wood, and do all kinds of skilled work.
He has also given him and Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others.
He has filled them with wisdom and skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, scarlet yarn, and fine linen, and as weavers—those who do any work or create artistic designs."
