Exodus

Chapter 25

God rescues His people from slavery.

Yahweh spoke to Moses:

“Tell the people of Israel to bring me an offering. You must accept my offering from everyone who is willing to give it from their heart.

This is the offering you are to accept from them: gold, silver, and bronze,

blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, fine linen, and goat hair,

ram skins dyed red, fine leather, and acacia wood,

oil for the lamp, spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense,

onyx stones, and other jewels to be set in the ephod and the chest-covering.

Have them build a holy place for me, so I can live among them.

You must build it exactly as I show you, following the pattern for the Holy Tent and all its furnishings.

“They are to make a special box out of acacia wood. It must be two and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide, and one and a half cubits high.

Cover it inside and out with pure gold, and put a gold molding all around it.

Cast four gold rings for it and attach them to its four feet, with two rings on each side.

Make poles of acacia wood and cover them with gold.

Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the special box to carry it.

The poles must stay in the rings of the box and never be removed.

You must put the covenant document, which I will give you, into the ark.

Make a cover, known as the mercy seat, out of pure gold. It must be two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.

Make two winged creatures, called cherubim, from hammered gold. You must place them at each end of the mercy seat.

Make a cherub at one end and another cherub at the other end. The cherubim at both ends must be made as one piece with the mercy seat.

The cherubim must spread their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings. Their faces should be turned toward each other, looking toward the mercy seat.

Place the mercy seat on top of the ark, and inside the ark, put the covenant document that I will give you.

There, I will meet with you and speak to you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the covenant, telling you everything I command you for the people of Israel.

“You must make a table from acacia wood. It should be two cubits long, one cubit wide, and one and a half cubits high.

Cover it with pure gold and put a gold frame around its edge.

Make a border about a handbreadth wide around it. You must also put a gold frame on this border.

Make four gold rings for the table and attach them to the four corners of its four legs.

The rings should be near the border, to hold the poles used for carrying the table.

Make the poles from acacia wood and cover them with gold, so the table can be carried with them.

Make its dishes, spoons, pitchers, and bowls for pouring out offerings. You must make them out of pure gold.

Always set the bread of the Presence on the table before me.

“You must make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand, including its base, shaft, cups, decorative buds, and flowers, must be made as a single piece of hammered work.

Six branches will extend from its sides: three branches of the lampstand from one side, and three branches of the lampstand from the other side.

On each of the six branches extending from the lampstand, there will be three cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with a decorative bud and flower.

On the central lampstand itself, there will be four cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its decorative buds and flowers.

There will be a decorative bud under each pair of branches that extend from the lampstand, making six branches in total.

Its buds and branches should be all one piece with it, all of it made from one piece of hammered pure gold.

You must make seven lamps for it, and they should light these lamps to shine light on the area in front of it.

Its wick trimmers and trays for the trimmings must be made of pure gold.

It, along with all these accessories, must be made from 75 pounds of pure gold.

Make sure to construct them exactly according to the design shown to you on the mountain.
