So then, since Christ suffered in his body, you should also take on the same attitude. For whoever has suffered in the body has stopped sinning.
This means you should no longer live the rest of your earthly life to satisfy human desires, but to do God's will.
You have already spent enough time living like unbelievers, indulging in promiscuity, lust, drunkenness, wild parties, excessive drinking, and disgusting idol worship.
Now, your former friends find it strange that you no longer join them in their wild behavior, and they slander you.
But they will have to give an account to God, who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
The Good News was preached even to those who are now dead, so that even though they were judged as humans in their bodies, they might live as God does in the spirit.
The end of all things is near. So be clear-minded, self-controlled, and devoted to prayer.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Welcome one another into your homes without complaining.
As each person has received a spiritual gift, use it to serve one another, like good managers of God's grace in its various forms.
If anyone speaks, they should speak as if they are speaking God's very words. If anyone serves, they should serve with the strength God provides, so that in everything God may be given glory through Jesus Christ. All glory and power belong to him forever and ever. Amen.
Dear friends, don’t be surprised by the difficult trials you are experiencing, as if something unusual is happening to you.
Instead, be happy that you are sharing in Christ's suffering, so that you can also be extremely joyful when his glory is revealed.
If people insult you because you follow Christ, you are blessed. This is because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. They insult him, but you are bringing him glory.
Make sure that none of you suffers for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal, or for meddling in other people's affairs.
But if any of you suffer because you are a Christian, don't be ashamed. Instead, praise God for this.
Because the time has come for judgment to begin with God's own people. If it starts with us, what will happen to those who don't obey God's Good News?
“If even those who are right with God are barely saved, what will happen to ungodly people and sinners?”
So, those who suffer because it is God's will and who continue to do good should trust themselves to him, just as they would to their faithful Creator.
