How can any of you, when you have a disagreement with another believer, dare to take it to court before unbelievers instead of before God's people?
Don’t you know that God’s people will judge the world? So if you are going to judge the world, why can’t you handle these small issues?
Don’t you know that we will even judge angels? How much more should we be able to judge the matters of this life?
So if you have to decide everyday matters, why are you letting people who aren’t respected in the church act as judges?
I say this to make you feel ashamed. Is there really no one among you wise enough to settle disagreements between fellow believers?
Instead, one brother sues another, and they take their cases before unbelievers!
It is completely wrong that you have lawsuits against each other at all. Why not just accept the wrong you’ve suffered? Why not just let yourselves be cheated?
But no, you yourselves are doing wrong and cheating, and you're doing it to your own brothers and sisters in faith.
Or don’t you know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who are sexually immoral, who worship idols, who commit adultery, male prostitutes, or men who have sex with other men,
or thieves, greedy people, drunkards, people who use abusive language, or swindlers—none of these will inherit God’s Kingdom.
That is what some of you used to be. But you were washed clean; you were made holy; you were made right with God through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and through the Spirit of our God.
“I am allowed to do all things,” but not everything is helpful. “I am allowed to do all things,” but I will not let anything control me.
“Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food,” but God will destroy both the stomach and food. However, the body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord is for the body.
God raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, and he will also raise us up by his power.
Don’t you know that your bodies are parts of Christ? Should I then take parts of Christ and join them to a prostitute? Absolutely not!
Or don’t you know that anyone who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
But anyone who joins himself to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
Run away from sexual immorality! Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who lives in you, whom you received from God? You do not belong to yourselves,
because you were bought at a price. So use your body and your spirit to honor God, for they both belong to God.
