Song of Solomon

Chapter 7

A poem about love.

How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O princess! Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a master craftsman.

Your navel is like a round goblet, never lacking mixed wine. Your waist is like a heap of wheat, surrounded by lilies.

Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle.

Your neck is like an ivory tower. Your eyes are like the pools in Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon that overlooks Damascus.

Your head on you is like Mount Carmel. The hair of your head is like purple cloth; the king is captivated by its tresses.

How beautiful and delightful you are, my love!

You stand tall like a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters of fruit.

I said, "I will climb the palm tree and take hold of its fruit." May your breasts be like clusters of grapes, and your breath smell like apples.

Your mouth is like the finest wine, that goes down smoothly for my beloved, flowing gently over the lips of those who are asleep.

I belong to my beloved, and he desires me.

Come, my beloved, let's go out into the fields and spend the night in the villages.

Let's go early to the vineyards. We'll see if the vines have budded, if the blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom. There, I will give you my love.

The mandrake plants are fragrant. At our doors are all kinds of precious fruits, both new and old, which I have saved just for you, my beloved.
