Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth!”
The first angel went and poured his bowl onto the earth. A disgusting and painful sore appeared on the people who had the mark of the wild animal and worshiped its statue.
The second angel poured his bowl into the sea, and the sea turned into blood, like the blood of a dead person. Every living creature in the sea died.
The third angel poured his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they also turned to blood.
Then I heard the angel who is in charge of the waters say, “You are fair in your judgments, you Holy One, who is and who was.
Because people poured out the blood of your holy people and your prophets, you have given them blood to drink. They deserve this.”
I heard the altar reply, “Yes, Lord God Almighty, your judgments are true and fair.”
The fourth angel poured his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to burn people with fire.
People were severely burned by the intense heat, and they cursed the name of God, who had the power over these plagues. They did not change their ways or give him glory.
The fifth angel poured his bowl on the throne of the wild animal, and its kingdom became dark. People bit their tongues in pain,
and they cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores. They did not change their evil ways.
The sixth angel poured his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.
Then I saw three evil spirits, which looked like frogs, coming out of the mouths of the dragon, the wild animal, and the false prophet.
These are spirits of demons, and they perform miracles. They go out to the kings of the whole world to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.
“Look, I will come like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps their clothes ready, so they won't have to walk around naked and be shamed.”
He gathered them at the place called Megiddo in Hebrew.
The seventh angel poured his bowl into the air. A loud voice came from the temple in heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is finished!”
Then there were flashes of lightning, noises, and thunder. There was also a great earthquake, the worst in human history, so mighty and severe.
The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. God remembered Babylon the Great and made her drink the cup of his furious wrath.
Every island disappeared, and the mountains could not be found.
Huge hailstones, each weighing about one hundred pounds, fell from the sky onto people. People cursed God because of the hail plague, for it was extremely severe.
