Yahweh, you are the God who punishes wrongs. God who punishes wrongs, show yourself!
Rise up, judge of the earth. Give the proud what they deserve.
Yahweh, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked celebrate?
They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers brag.
They crush your people, Yahweh, and hurt those you claim.
They murder widows and foreigners, and kill children who have no parents.
They say, “Yah will not see, and Jacob’s God will not notice.”
Think about this, you foolish people. You stupid people, when will you understand?
He who put ears in your head, won’t he hear? He who made your eyes, won’t he see?
He who corrects nations, won’t he punish? He who teaches people knows everything.
Yahweh knows what people are thinking, and he knows their thoughts are useless.
Happy is the person you discipline, Yah, and teach from your law;
so you can give them rest from difficult times, until a trap is set for the wicked.
Because Yahweh will not reject his people, nor will he abandon those he has chosen.
For justice will return to fairness. All who are honest will follow it.
Who will stand up for me against the wicked? Who will support me against evildoers?
If Yahweh had not helped me, I would have soon been dead and silent.
When I said, “I am slipping!” Your unfailing love, Yahweh, supported me.
When many worries filled my mind, your comfort brought joy to my soul.
Can a corrupt government that creates trouble through its laws be your ally?
They unite against good people and condemn innocent individuals.
But Yahweh has been my strong tower, my God, the rock where I find refuge.
He has brought their own wrongdoing upon them and will destroy them through their own evil. Yahweh, our God, will destroy them.
