Chapter 45

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

For the music leader. To be sung to the tune of “The Lilies.” A thoughtful psalm by the descendants of Korah. A wedding song. My heart is full of a beautiful message. I recite my poem for the king. My tongue is like the pen of a skilled writer.

You are the most handsome of all people. Your words are gracious, so God has blessed you forever.

Mighty warrior, strap your sword to your side, in all your splendor and majesty.

In your majesty, ride out victoriously for truth, humility, and justice. Let your right hand show amazing feats.

Your arrows are sharp. Nations fall before you, with arrows piercing the hearts of the king's enemies.

Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever. A scepter of fairness is the scepter of your kingdom.

You love what is right and hate what is evil. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy more than your companions.

All your clothes smell of myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. From ivory palaces, stringed instruments have brought you joy.

Daughters of kings are among your honored women. The queen stands at your right hand, adorned with gold from Ophir.

Listen, daughter, pay attention, and turn your ear. Forget your own people and your father's household.

Then the king will desire your beauty. Honor him, for he is your lord.

The people of Tyre will come with gifts. The rich among the people will seek your favor.

The princess inside is magnificent. Her clothing is woven with gold.

She will be led to the king in embroidered garments. The young women, her companions who follow her, will be brought to you.

They will be led with joy and happiness and will enter the king’s palace.

Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You will make them rulers throughout the earth.

I will make sure your name is remembered for all generations. Because of this, people will thank you forever and ever.
