Chapter 19

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

For the worship leader. A Psalm by David. The heavens tell about the glory of God. The sky shows what his hands have made.

Day after day, they speak; night after night, they reveal knowledge.

There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

Their voice has gone out through all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens, he has made a home for the sun.

The sun is like a groom coming out of his room, like a strong man joyful to run his race.

It rises at one end of the sky and goes around to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.

Yahweh’s law is perfect, it renews the soul. Yahweh’s promises are trustworthy, making the simple wise.

Yahweh’s commands are right, bringing joy to the heart. Yahweh’s instruction is pure, bringing light to the eyes.

Reverence for Yahweh is clean, lasting forever. Yahweh’s decisions are true and completely fair.

They are more desirable than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter than honey, even honey fresh from the comb.

Also, by them your servant is warned. There is great reward in obeying them.

Who can see their own mistakes? Forgive my hidden faults.

Keep your servant from intentional sins; do not let them control me. Then I will be blameless and innocent of serious wrongdoing.

May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you, Yahweh, my rock and my redeemer.
