Psalms

Chapter 147

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

Praise Yah, because it is good to sing praises to our God; it is pleasant and right to praise him.

Yahweh rebuilds Jerusalem. He gathers the exiles of Israel.

He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

He counts the number of the stars. He calls all of them by their names.

Our Lord is great and mighty in power. His understanding is limitless.

Yahweh helps the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground.

Sing to Yahweh with thanks. Sing praises to our God with a harp,

who covers the sky with clouds, who provides rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.

He provides food for the livestock and for the young ravens when they call.

He doesn't enjoy the strength of a horse. He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Yahweh takes pleasure in those who respect him, in those who hope in his faithful love.

Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion!

Because he has strengthened the bars of your gates. He has blessed your children within you.

He brings peace to your borders. He fills you with the finest wheat.

He sends his command to the earth. His word travels very quickly.

He sends snow like wool and scatters frost like ashes.

He throws down his hail like rocks. Who can endure his cold?

He sends out his word, and melts them. He makes his wind blow, and the waters flow.

He reveals his word to Jacob; his laws and his rules to Israel.

He has not done this for just any nation, and they do not know his laws. Praise Yahweh!
