Chapter 129

Songs and prayers for every feeling.

A Song of Ascents. Many times they have attacked me since I was young. Let Israel now say,

many times they have attacked me since I was young, yet they have not defeated me.

The plowmen plowed on my back, making their furrows long.

Yahweh is fair and just. He has broken the power of the wicked.

May all who hate Zion be ashamed and forced to turn back.

May they be like grass growing on a roof, which dries up before it can fully grow;

grass that no reaper gathers in his hand, nor anyone gathering sheaves picks up in his arms.

And may no one passing by say, “May Yahweh bless you. We bless you in Yahweh’s name.”
